Where do I start?
If you are new to Pilates and do
not experience any pain or discomfort
when exercising, then we suggest you begin with an
Introductory Group Mat session.
Introductory Group Session Mat:
You will be taught the 5 basic principles of alignment, which is the
corner stone of STOTT PILATES. By the end of this session, you will have
learned the warm-up and a solid curriculum of essential exercises that build
strength to the core and release tight muscles.
For individuals who want to get
started with their fitness goals right away and are looking to maximize their
workout time, we suggest the Reformer classes. These classes are by appoinment
only. If you are suffering from some
discomfort, pain or have physical limitations when exercising, we suggest the
Reformer classes.
Introductory Reformer Package:
This package is most appropriate for
individuals who are new to Pilates or experience some physical limitations that
would prevent them from participating fully in our Mat program. By adding
resistance and more feedback to the muscles, the Reformer is more effective at
correcting alignment problems and a good place to start for some. You will
learn how to set up and operate your machine while familiarizing yourself with
the essential Reformer exercises. Following your 3 private sessions you are
welcome to join group Reformer classes or continue privately if you prefer this
one-on-one training.
Where do I start?
Private sessions
A private session offers one-on-one instruction. It is necessary to properly
assess your body alignment, posture, strength, flexibility and introduce you to
this method of exercise. The instructor then designs your Pilates program and
guides you to the appropriate group session. Should the instructor detect
physical limitations or a serious muscular imbalance, we may recommend that you
refrain from group sessions or be referred to the Rehab Pilates physiotherapy
services on-site.
Semi-Private Sessions
This is an opportunity for you to team up with a friend or spouse in a more
personalized setting and enjoy many of the advantages of a private session.
Group Mat Sessions
Sessions are limited to 10 to 12 participants.
Exercises are performed on a mat. Levels available: Introductory, Essential 1,
Essential 2, Intermediate, Advanced and Rehab.
Group Reformer Sessions
Sessions are limited to 5 to 6 participants.
You must have a minimum of two Private Introductory sessions before starting
group Reformer. The Reformer is a powerful piece of equipment that offers more
resistance and feedback to the nervous system. As such, the Reformer workout is
more effective at correcting alignment problems and is a better option for some
individuals.
Mat and Group Reformer Combined
Both Mat and Reformer work together as a system of exercise to improve core
stability, balance and mobility, relieving pain and tension.
Corporate Sessions
Corporate sessions, tailored to the needs of your workplace are also available
(mat only). Call for more information on corporate rates.
STOTT PILATES Rehab-Style
This is a great place for someone who experiences chronic pain when exercising. Your instructor will teach you the 5 principles of alignment on our specially designed raised mats followed by a reformer program that focuses on pelvic and shoulder stabilization. It is also a excellent class if you have not exercised in a very long time and are looking for a gentle entry to activity.
We start by creating an awareness of deep torso muscles. Once the awareness of the core muscle support system is established, we work to increase general strength, endurance and re-pattern any muscular-skeletal imbalances, which may exist, so that the body is reintegrated as a whole. All activity is supervised and pain-free.
